Challenging the triple helix model of regional innovation

What is Triple Helix? Definition of Triple Helix: In this model, three spheres are defined institutionally (university, industry, and government) as interactions, mediated across otherwise defended boundaries, both by way of communication systems and through the technological innovations, they generate. The triple helix model of innovation refers to constant interactions between academia, industry and governments to foster economic and social development. The model emphasizes on boosting innovation for a development. It describes the role of university to join hands with industry and government. The concept of triple helix (TH) cooperation was introduced about two decades ago, as a method of enhancing innovation and value creation.

Det finns en Triple Helix Association, där Etzkowitz är ordförande, som regelbundet arrangerar konferenser. Nästa konferens hålls vid Stanford University sommaren 2011. The metaphor of a Triple Helix emerged thereafter in discussions about organizing a follow-up conference under this title in Amsterdam in January 1996.1 Since then, Etzkowitz & Leydesdorff (2000) further elaborated the Triple Helix of University-Industry-Government Relations into a model for studying both knowledge-based and developing economies.

Interactive Research in a Triple Helix Based Environmental

The problem with his triple helix model is that the phosphates form the helical core, with the bases pointing outwards. This would be impossible under normal cellular conditions. Each phosphate group is negatively charged, and so many negative charges forced together would repel each other, literally driving the structure apart. A Triple Helix of overlapping, yet relatively independent institutional spheres is required to capture contemporary innovation processes. The concept of triple helix (TH) cooperation was introduced about two decades ago, as a method of enhancing innovation and value creation. This approach, with adequately defined roles of all parties, their benefits and correlations, offers value for all model components and, in terms of education, facilitates overcoming deficiencies of traditional education.
